Dear friends,
Today, AIBM has been unexpectedly suspended from Instagram- a platform I’ve actively used to connect with European content creators and showcase a carefully curated mosaic of European culture—news, film, music, and art. Fortunately, I have filed a complaint and have been cleared relatively quickly. The reason for this suspension remains unclear.
It’s possible that my heightened activity over the past few days, dedicated to discovering and engaging with European content makers, might have triggered some automated flags. Additionally, the fact that I embed numerous videos on my website may have raised suspicion. But regardless of the cause, I was upset by this situation.
What’s the problem, you migjht think, as AIBM does not post all that much on the gramm? Well, rather than post, I’ve spent considerable time and effort cultivating an Instagram feed that reflects the diversity and richness of European creativity. Instagram is a popular platform, and unfortunately that means I have collected many eggs in one basket. The prospect of starting over from scratch seemed genuinely ‘a pain in the tail’. Fortunately the verification process cleared this misunderstanding and my access has been restored. I suspect that I was clicking on “follow” so fast and furious they thought I was NOVA, the AIBM inhouse AI Model.
In each case, the experience brings fresh concerns about future events. If instagram were to permanently block AIBM in the future, AIBM would instantenously lose many of its primary sources. This is an important lesson, one I cannot ignore. There was no explanation, no reasoning, no opportunity to explain other than filing a complaint. It was a cold cut, and a clear threat in terms of business continuity.
Duly noted.
